saturday the 12 April . Morning 11 00 hrs . I am all exited its saturday fortunately for a change I am not rostered to work . I am going on a Whale and Dolphin CRuise with friends . Its the 4 hr cruise and all is well.
The water is choppy and as we are on the front at the boat a huge wave gets me wet. i decide to walk down and sit and dry inside. as I walk down and am at the base my leg twists . i m down onthe floor and i now understand the phrase what excruicating pain means. I cant stand up at all. 2 gentle men whose faces I will never forget help me up and take me inside the stafgf are alerted there has been a mishap. 2 british medical students offer me there wisdom. They are happy that nothing is turning blue which means I a m in danger . cold compress and brufen with paracetemol seems to be the order of the day with leg elevated. the captian with whom i had been joking just a few moment back comes down to see who is injured. the moment he sees me he told me _ i knew you would be trouble. he is smiling cause i am being quite a trouper . not complaing even letting everyone see the dolphins . I am told every one saw quite a few that day. Good I would have hated the tought that no one got to see what they paid for :)
we return back and St johns is at hand. by now I am in a lot of pain the leg is numb because of the cold compress. I amd taken to the hospital in the emergenacy ward . fortunately thanks to the expertise of the st johns ambulance serivices i am not josteled a lot . by now its 7 in the evening. my friends know and they are all with me in the ward trying to cheer me up and clicking pics in the ward for memory. i am in usual ER style put on drip pronto and needles all around and then taken for xray. and i meet neha who is a radiographer . she is a friend and i ask her whats wrong . i m hoping and praying that its a bad ligament tear . the neagtes the thought. its a fib/tib compunnd fracture. bad at that. the nurse throws big hints abt it being too crowded . my friends leave reluctantly. My leg which has been supported by a pillow so far is now put in a temp cast to hold in place.
2300 hrs.
Am shifted to the Orthopedic ward. Am not allowed fluids .Am given strong painkillers .

14 april 2008.
Its difficult to walk with crutches. I ask for a walker.am learing the use of 1 foot.
I have now informed the office of misshap as this in Monday.
Amie and Fleur come in to see me I am so under medication I can barely talk. Vince and Prachi come later in the day.
tues day rolls on the dr is happy to see there is no swelling . he says if i main the progress and if the physio is happy he is happy to let me go home. That they are expecting 6 more patients has no bearing on the fact I presume:)
merill offers to drive me home.
its a marathon job which she excels at .she buys me painkillers cause the dr has forgotten to tell what i will need by way of that. we stick with tried and tested Panadol.
its diffucoult to navigate the stairs to my bedroom and i manage to do that heaving my self through all the steps. Once i am in bed i think ok this is it.
20 april 2008.
today is a week since the accident. i think i am lucky with friends and family. they have all been there for me through out.
I AM CHERISHED :)
I have learnt a lot these past few days . the cobwebs have cleared and the thought process is a lot clearer.
