Down Memory Lane

Movies ... Masti.. Magic ... 3 hours and you loose yourself in the make believe world of cinema where a storyteller unwinds his story on celluloid and we watch enchanted ...

We take a walk down memory lane and the actors that were , I doubt whether an real actor would like to be know as a star :)

I first was introduced to the ganguly brothers in the movie Chalti Ka naam Gadi and my fav scene till date remains of Anoop Kumar gulping down glasses of water and calling a lipstick Kartoos.:) And me asking Dad is this the Kishor Kumar who also sang Jeevan ke Safar me Rahi Milte hai BichadJaane ko aur De jaate hai yaade Tanhai mein Tadpane ko?Since then I have seen a lot of movies of all of them and a fav number of Dada Moni is Sab Kuch Luta ke hosh mein aaye to kya kiya?Dil mein agar Chiraag Jalaye to Kya kiya? and Mamta so much talent ..

Pran ...I first remember seeing his movie Upkaar and the dio ..Ram ne har Yug mein Janam liya par Laksman phir se nahi aaya ...honga meessiah samne tere phir na tu bach payenga ...and then I get to see another facet ...him as a villian in the movie Adalat with Nargis . he stalks her right uptill the end untill she is old and trust me it was enough for me to hate him untill my dad told me he is ACTING......since then I remember his roles in Zanjeer and Yaari hai Iman holds a special place ..

Dev Saab as I call him happens to be a fave of Dad and needless to say I know more about him than most actors ...Suave, Charming and Debonair when I see him being ridiculed now just want to know that staying power of currant stars ...we can then compare apples to apples ...I still remember the 1st movie I saw was Jaal with him and Geeta Bali did not like it at all that it went right over my head that was another story and my dad took it upon himself to educate me ...Dev saab is a fave

Dilip Kumar I first saw in the movie Sangdil seemed very similar to Mr Rocheshter in Jane Eyre a book that I love.and him singing Yeh hawa yeh Raat yeh chandni teri ek Adaa pe Nisaar hai Mujhe kyu na ho teri aarzoo teri justjoo mein bahar hain .. even though yusuf saab as I call Dilip kumar was known to be a tragedy king I have liked his movies like Madhumati ,Tarana, Raam aur shyaam, and of course Devdas

Aji dil par hua aisa jadoooo nah this was not how I was introduced to Guru Dutt. His first movie that I saw was Pyaasa.. left a big impression ...him singing Jinhe Naaz hai Hind par Vo Kaha hai .. or yeh Duniya Agar mil bhi Jaaye to Kya hai? and then I saw Aar Paar, Saheb bibi aur Gulam,Mr and Mrs 55, Kagaz ke phool,Chaudivan ka Chand ( I like Rehman more) and ofcourse CID which he directed ... him and Johny Walker :)

Sab Kuch seekha humne na seekhe Hoshiyaari ,sach hai duniyawale ke hum hai anari ...or Mud mud ke na dekh mud mud ke.. Raj Kapoor the showman .. I fave song still his yeh dil jo jala ek aag lagi aasu jo bahe barsaat hui ... Khamosh the hum is gam ki kasam rote bhi rahe haste bhi rahe nad ofcourse kis baat pe4 naaraz ho kis baat ka hai gam? i still remember me and seeno singing loudly on the road mind you Sajan re jhoot mat bolo Khuda ke paas Jaana ....

Balraj Sahni the most understated of actors .... tu pyaar ka sagar teri ek boond ke pyaase hum in Seema or Do Bhigha Zameen or Kabuliwallah or Waqt....

Sunil Dutt or again Dutt sahab as I call him ....from Sadhna to Padosan to Mother India to Waqt to Khandaan to Munna Bhai MBBS ..Dutt Sahab is the epitome of chivalry ..a bygone era

The sound of a Saxophone and Shammi Kapoor ....who would not fall in love if you were serenaded with ..Ehsan tera honga Mujhpar Dil Chahta hai to Kehne do ... or him crooning Tumne mujhe Dekha hookar meherba... or again Hai duniya Usiki Zamana usika ,Muhobat mein jo ho gaya ho kisi ka ...Bramchari remains one of his most sensitive performances and him singing kal tere jalwe paraye bhi honge lekin Jhalak mere khwabon mein hongi phoolon ki doli mein hongi to rukhsat lekin mehek mere khwabon mein hongi ...

Sashi Kapoor? what can I say handsome ,charming ...?him singing Aafo khuda ..ah well I did the same in Kashmir all ....

Vinod Khanna crooning Koi hota Jisko hum apna Kehta ...Hum tumhe chahte hai aise

Sanjeev Kumar ..Dharmendra...
